For our November #radonc journal club we will discuss the use of radiation therapy in metastatic prostate cancer. Adding chemotherapy shows some improvement in survival over androgen deprivation therapy alone. Can radiation therapy also improve survival?

Our article is:

Improved survival with prostate radiation in addition to androgen deprivation therapy for men with newly diagnosed metastatic prostate cancer.

The article is free for download Nov 14-21, thanks to Emilia Capuzzi, ASCO and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Chad Rustoven of University of Colorado will join us to discuss at the live journal club Sunday November 20th at 12 – 1 PM Central Standard Time [6PM GMT]. We will focus on the following topics:

T1.  What is the current standard for hormone naive metastatic prostate cancer?

T2.   What were the aim and methods of this study?

T3.  What were the results, and how do they fit into currently published literature?

T4.  What kinds of additional research do we need to better define a role for radiation in metastatic prostate cancer?

We will start open chat 6 AM CST Saturday November 19th to include global participation.

  • Here are guidelines on how to sign up and participate
  • Read our disclaimer for ways to keep it rewarding and professional. If you’re not ready, just lurk and tune into the conversation.
