Oncology Leadership and Industry Funding: How Often, and How Much?

For our October #radonc journal club we will discuss industry funding in U.S. radiation oncology and medical oncology leaders. Academic centers and departmental chairs often set the course for medical research and influence how we define the standard of cancer care. How common are ties to industry?

The lead authors, Drs. Stella Yoo and Awad Ahmed, will join us for the weekend and will discuss at a live journal hour Sunday October 22 at 5-6M Central Standard Time. We will start open chat 6 AM CST Saturday October 21 to include global participation.

T4b.  Any concerns on oncology leadership’s financial ties influencing academic promotion and clinical advances within the department?

T5.  What guidelines are needed to ensure financial conflicts of interest don’t negatively influence future progress?
